Sulawesi Fund Raising Dinner 15 February 2019

Sulawesi Fund Raising Dinner 15 February 2019
AIA held a dinner to raise funds to support the victims of the Sulawesi disaster of 28 September 2018. AIA had previous sent $3,000 from AIA Funds and a further $3,000 from funds raised by Indo Café, Ibu Yetty and Ibu Shinta directly to a NGO on the ground who ensured that all the money was spent directly on food and necessities to help the victims.
The dinner was a wonderful success with 47 attending at Pho Phu Quoc Restaurant in Dickson ACT and raised
$1,893.00 which AIA will send to aid the victims.
Sulawesi suffered a devastating Tsunami late last year that killed hundreds and left thousands homeless when the epicenter of the Tsunami hit the Donggala Regency and especially the city of Palu with 350,000 inhabitants. This was a major catastrophe and it will take years for the communities to recover. The aid provided by AIA has made a difference and provided a real positive help to the victims in Palu.
His Excellency, the Indonesian Ambassador, Bapak Kristiarto Legowo attended with his wife Ibu Caecilia and other senior members of the Embassy. The Ambassador kindly thanked AIA for the effort and the significant contribution to the relationship and understanding between Australia and Indonesia.
This was also another wonderful AIA event with good company and good food.
Australia Day 26 January 2019

Australia Day 26 January 2019
28/02/2019
AIA joined with the Australia Indonesia Families Association (AIFA) to hold a joint Australia Day Lunch at Western Foreshore Park Gungalin on the edge of the lake in a beautiful location.
Despite the oppressive heat with temperatures over 41C, the lunch was a wonderful success and enjoyed by 45 attendees.
Unfortunately the Ambassador had to attend the Prime Minister’s Australia Day lunch so could not join us this year but the DCM Pak Derry Aman and other Embassy staffed joined us.
Due to the heat it was decided not to have a bar-b-que and everyone brought along food to share which provided a wonderful mix of delicious Indonesian and Australia traditional foods.
As is standard for AIA Australia Day, both the Australian and Indonesian national anthems were played with toasts to both countries.
Despite the heat the event was thoroughly enjoyed by all with great company and food.
